Gilmour Tools believe that precision ground products require to be manufactured using the latest technology navailable.
We have achieved this by investing in 5 EWAG Ewamatics CNC multi purpose grinders with robots at a cost of over £1.25 Million. The Ewag Ewamatic allows us to produce the complete tool in one clamping - from sintered blank we can periphery grind, top rake, finish form and chip groove without removing the part. This ensures accuracy as the part is measured at each stage and adjusted if required.

Our latest Ewag Ewamatic allows us to grind PCD, PCBN, CBN tools by erosion followed by precision grinding. This is the only machine currently available with this process which makes diamond tool grinding faster, more accurate, less expensive with a shorter delivery time.
It also incorporates the latest rotary software which allows us to produce rotary tools to a 1 micron tolerance on the concentricity.

During long batch runs the robot loading system is utilised and the machine can run totally unmanned. As well as the Ewag Ewamatics we have numerous other specialist precision grinding machines which allow us to manufacture all tools and toolholders in-house to the highest of standards.

Once parts are finished at all machines they are given a 100% visual inspection and also checked using the latest metrology equipment at the machine and also at the final inspection process where they are also laser engraved with the customers’ required identification mark.
All of the above is housed in our purpose built 10,000 sqft factory with a 5,000 sq ft extension.
